Mary Ellen & Miss Wings ![]() Photo by Mary Ellen "Angel Scribe"© Cait shows off Miss Piggy, a five year old Guinea Pig. TALES Miss Piggy was gifted to Cait, by a classmate, when Miss Piggy was a year old. Cait took excellent care of and loved Miss Piggy for four more years, until Miss Piggy's sudden passing shortly after this photo was taken.
Miss Piggy's short hair was a pretty mix of multi-colors and she had deep black eyes. Miss Piggy was known for her very sweet personality. Most people don't realize that Guinea Pigs are talkers and good company. Cait, as a modern teenager uses the Internet, "I wanted to learn more about Guinea Pigs, so I read books and used the Internet to learn what foods and treats are good for them. My favorite two web sites are www.cavyspirit.com and www.guineapigcages.com." Cait remembers, "Miss Piggy loved playing in our backyard in her "pigpen." She loved eating the fresh green grass, which is good for Guinea Pigs. The pen is a metal fence, that you can buy at pet and feed stores. It kept her safe while she was outside. She loved playing with old paper towel rolls. When Mom brought groceries home, and Miss Piggy heard the bags rattle, Miss Piggy thought she was getting a treat and whistled to make sure she'd get one! Guinea Pigs are good house pets and love to be in pairs. It is important to keep Guinea Pig cages clean and dry. They are live animals, and like us, they need fresh water everyday. Wash out their dishes, so that bacteria and germs do not grow and make them sick. Guinea Pigs are like rabbits and LOVE to eat hay, it is very good for them. Make sure they have a place to stand in their cage that is covered. Wire floors are painful on their feet." Cait's Grandmother Faith adds, "Cait and her sister are devastated at the loss of Miss Piggy. Taking care of pets teaches children about responsibility, and sadly about the loss of life. Miss Piggy sure had a good life with Cait." TIPS Cait wants other Guinea Pig
parents to know, "Our pets count on us to be kind and caring, so make
sure you learn about their needs and health issues before you get any
pet.
Miss Piggy's favorite treat was celery. Check your pet's foods on the Internet to make sure they are not on the FDA pet food recall list. New recalls continue to show up each week. Miss Piggy instinctively knew what foods were good and bad for her, so we never forced her to eat anything she did not want." _____________ Listen & Giggle Animal Radio Show Interviews Mary Ellen http://AnimalRadio.com/443PODCAST.mp3 All Pets, All Breeds, Pet Adoptions PetFinder.com ![]() Nymbus, "Kitty-Paddling"
