Hollywood magic is perfect for the Halloween season! Stan, a film producer in Hollywood opened up Victoriana Antiques and Costumes, at 538 Main Street in Cottage Grove, with his talented wife Lesley.

Lesley, was a Hollywood motion picture industry costume designer for 30 years. She recently headed the department that manufactured costumes for Pirates of the Caribbean staring Johnny Depp.

Victoriana's is filled, top to bottom, with thousands of treasures, vintage clothes, costume rentals, and movie related film props. Stan and Lesley's talents and expert help will make your Halloween unique!

One of the treasures most admired by Lesley and Stan is Rocky. Lesley shares, "Rocky was my 50th birthday present. When I first saw him, at the Piccadilly Swap Meet he was under nourished and ill. I paid a lot of money to rescue our 'Piccadilly puppy' and he is worth every penny!

He is the best dog and his outgoing personality is an asset with our customers. Each year, on his birthday, he receives birthday cards from people to thank me for rescuing him. Our out-of-state tourists are not used to finding pets in stores. So, they are tickled to discover Rocky sleeping amongst the many antiques.

He was fittingly named, after a Hollywood legend, Rocky Balboa, because of his fighting spirit to survive.

Rocky was adopted into the perfect situation. He is assistant manager of Victoriana's and loves wearing costumes. In past Halloweens, he's been an organ-grinding monkey, a horse and rider, and a bat.

Rocky has captured customers' hearts, resulting in many adopted Aunts and Uncles dropping by the store just to visit him. Nina, visits the shop to brush Rocky. She puts her head in the door, and asks for Rocky. If it is his day off, she immediately turns and leaves. If Rocky is at work, he benefits from her loving care...and she from Rocky's.

Rocky, Stan and Lesley will be dressed in their finest costumes this Halloween for the annual Downtown Trick or Treat night. Come by and meet them all, if you can recognize them!

TIPS

Keep pets in the day before Halloween and on Halloween to protect them from pranksters.

Protect your pets from running outside on Halloween by placing them behind a baby gate, or keep them in their crate or carrying cage, during Trick 'r' Treat hours.

Turning on your music or TV helps pets stay calm, while youngsters are ringing your door bell.

Have a Happy Howl-een and keep candles up high, so pets wont knock them over and burn their noses, whiskers, paws or tails as they leave the scene. (Instead, use glow sticks or battery operated tea lights.)
