Midgeon is Camera Shy
TALES
June has loved pets, for as long as she can remember.
It was this love, that led her to volunteer at the Humane Society's THIS and THAT Shop, on 8th Street.
June says, "I have met the kindest people, helping at the shop. It is a good place to treasure hunt for bargains, and meet other people who love pets."
June, "Five years ago, I adopted two kittens.
They are purebred Cottage Grove farm cats from a litter of 7, from a single mother.
The mother was finally tamed and spayed so she would not litter the countryside."
Midgen was the midget of the litter, and Toesee has white toes.
They are spoiled. Every night they get a shrimp!
They love their scratching post, and from the minute it came into the home, they knew it was exclusively theirs.
Midgen and Toesee's job, is helping June get the mail.
They follow her to the mail box, then competitively race each other home.
One summer night Toesee brought a bat home, in through the cat door, and plunked it down on June's bedroom floor, as a "gift."
June, "I was worried that she would develop rabies. But luckily, the Lane County Animal Regulations, examined the bat...and it was free of rabies."
June needs a bigger lap. The minute she sits down, a cat quickly fills it, with one waiting in line to replace it.
TIPS
June recommends, "The Vet said, "We have had a case of rabies in Cottage Grove in the last five years." So they recommend rabies vaccinations.
Also, the cats love their cat post, they play on it, sleep on it.
People can make their own, or buy one from the Humane Society shop. Please neuter and spay your pets.
