TALES

Dr. Annette Simard, is a French Canadian. Her family, which included seven children, moved to the USA when she was seven years old.

Dr. Simard moved to Oregon in 1980, became a chiropractor in 1988, and moved to Cottage Grove in 1992.

Dr. Annette, "My husband and I love it here! So do our pets; ten cats, 2 dogs, 2 bunnies, 9 ducks, and 25 chickens!"

Jolie, is a bouncy Border Collie, who just celebrated her sixth birthday. Jolie, is the French word for pretty, which she most certainly is!

Jolie loves to smile, and when you look into her eyes, you can see her think.

When the weather is nice, Dr. Annette puts her inside house-bunnies, in the outside pen.

Jolie runs around and around the pen, "herding" the rabbits until she is exhausted.

The rabbits are not afraid of Jolie, and her busy activity does not worry them.

If Dr. Annette's chickens get out of their pen, Jolie immediately herds them back into the safety of their enclosure.

Sophie, is a nine year old yellow lab mix. Sophie's first guardian had a heart transplant, and she kept vigil over him until he passed, then she came to live with Dr. Annette.

Dr. Annette, "It is important when you have a pet, that they have the opportunity to see their dead human.

Animals know what death is, and it puts their mind at rest, so they do not feel abandoned, and can emotionally move on easier.

Sophie's worried about her missing guardian, which has left her with separation anxiety.

When a pet passes, at our home, we have a little wake for them.

We bring all the other pets to see them. We honor them with a little funeral.

Our cat Millie, attends every funeral. Losing a loved one is hard on everyone!"

All of Dr. Annette's pets receive the benefits of chiropractic adjustments. "I have a small chiropractic animal practice, and I do clients pets with a Veterinary referral."

Both dogs go to work, they actually take turns, and Dr. Annette states, "Sophie is a "Zen beast.

Because she is so calm, she calms everyone she is around.

Everyone loves having her at the clinic, children hug her, and adults who love pets, and who no longer have them in their lives, appreciate her sweet company."

Dr. Annette says, "People talk to the dogs before talking to us!

Clients feel calmer, because there is a pet who looks up at them with such soulful, and understanding eyes.

Both dogs have good manners, and can tell when someone does not want to associate with them, and they leave them alone.

TIPS

Dr. Annette shares her tip suggestions, "I take the dogs for good long walks.

Jolie plays ball with my husband, when he is on the phone.

He throws a ball over and over, until he is worn out!

Jolie never seems to wear out, she has worn a path in our backyard as she chases the balls.

If an animal is moving stiffly, an adjustment offers them more mobility. On two separate occasions, I have helped with new born Alpacas.

They couldn't lift their heads to nurse, and an adjustment allowed them to raise their heads and nurse, so they could survive without bottle feeding.

Once, while driving home with the dogs, we found a cat hit by a car.

We stopped, and discovered the cat was paralyzed.

I thought he would die, but gave him the benefit of chiropractic care, to his spine and skull.

It took a couple of months, and with a colleague's consultation, he is today a walking cat. Chiropractic is a blessing for pets and people."
