1) The Lucky Break
2) Bathroom Cents
3) Avoiding the Flu

Dearest Readers,

This week I made a mad-dash up the interstate into Canada to check on my mother as she had fallen out of bed and hit her head on an bedside table.

Remember the "finding pennys" newsletter? It seems Angels drop pennies to get our attention and to let us know they are with us.

I kept thinking of it and the readers' responses as I was packing to drive and check on my mother.

On my way out of town I went to the Post Office. I found a bright shiny penny on the ground at the door to the busy Post Office and thought, "Why didn't any one else see it?"

I picked it up and put in my pocket.

Then I realized I had forgotten something at home and dashed back to the house.

As I climbed out of the car I found a second bright shiny penny, at my feet, exactly where I had climbed into the car the first time I left the driveway.

I thought that it was odd as the penny had not been there when I left???

I began to think maybe the angels had a message for me...but as often as we humans often do, I discounted it.

Then, when I climbed back into the car to leave...there on the seat was a third bright shiny penny!!!

I checked my pockets to make sure one of the first two pennies had not fallen out. And I was looking down at three bright shiny pennies in my hand.

I thought, "OK, NOW I KNOW this is not just my imagination!"

I carry no change in my pockets to fall out.

None of the pennies were brown, but all new and shiny in appearance.

I checked the dates and they each had different years. But how could they all be so new looking?

Angels.... go figure.

Life is so interesting. When you think you have seenevery thing you realize you are only just beginning to even see.

On the way to Canada I saw two fields of migratory swans. It was magical...and when I arrived into Canada, my mother was playing Bridge with her friends. She is feeling better.

Bless Your Angelic Heart,

I coordinate a speakers bureau for people who are living with HIV and AIDS and I always feel blessed and privileged to know some very extraordinary people.

These people not only know how to live well with HIV, they are wonderful examples to all of us on how to just live well!

My story is about one of the speakers, Sherri (not her real name), a Native American woman who has AIDS and is living on a fixed income from Social Security Disability.

She is recently married, has a son and a stepson. Her husband is a talented artist, but there is not always enough money to make ends meet.

Sherri recently told me that she didn't think she could go out on anymore speaking engagements because their car was acting up and not safe to drive.

There was a problem with the brakes and they were short on funds to have the car fixed.

My intuition told me to suggest to her to take the car to a brake place that I'd had good experience with and get a free estimate. "Brake Masters" (where they always give you an honest brake!)

This way she'd at least know what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix.

I had a thought that Sherri deserved a break as she'd been through a lot lately. I said a little prayer for her, sending her Grace to get through this predicament easily.

A couple of days later Sherri called me all excited.

She had called the brake place I'd suggested and had talked to the owner and explained her situation to him.

She started off telling him she was disabled and was inquiring if they could donate some services to her with the hope that maybe she'd get a discount.

He seemed interested and asked some questions.

When he asked Sherri what her disability was, she hesitated, thinking that when she told him she had AIDS he would reject her. When she stated that she had AIDS, there was a silence and then the owner replied that it was not his place to judge.

She told him her story of how she had unknowingly contracted HIV and what it was like living with it... all the medications she takes, the side effects, the various opportunistic infections she's had, the brushes with death that she's experienced, and how it has effected her son and family.

He told her he would like to help her out with her car problems and for her to bring her car in.

She was so excited when she called me that someone was actually going to help her out.

She gathered some articles and letters about herself to take to the owner to prove to him that her story was genuine. (She did not want him to think she was trying to take advantage of him.) I also supplied a copy of a letter of recommendation I'd written for her a year ago.

Sherri called me back later that day to report that the owner of the brake place had given her $130 worth of service on her car and asked for nothing in return.

It turns out her brakes were about to fall off.

They spent a lot of time talking about her situation and her life with HIV. She told him how her family had rejected her and how she'd struggled to maintain as normal a life as possible for her and her son.

He responded that everyone should be loved and supported by family.

Sherri gave the owner her packet of letters and articles and he was quite interested and eager to read more about her and learn more about HIV and AIDS.

Sherri told me that she was astounded that someone (a total stranger) could be so compassionate and generous.

The experience with the owner of the brake place had helped her to have a new faith in her fellow human beings and I encouraged her to expect more from people and she'd get more. (Sherri's experiences had taught her not to trust people and to expect rejection.)

I also suggested to her she was not the only one who had received in this situation.

The owner of the brake place now knows someone living well with AIDS and he is now more informed about it than he had been thanks to her, and he was given the opportunity to be an angel to someone who needed one.

I thanked her for following my suggestion to go to the brake place because it confirmed for me that it is good for me to follow my intuition.

I am thankful that I could play a part in these two angels finding each other!

I really appreciate your newsletter and your book, Expect Miracles, I pass them on to friends all the time.

I was feeling deprssed when your newsletter about pennies came.

An article was about angels dropping pennies on us from heaven.

My grandmother and grandfather have both passed on.

I read the article, thought about it for two seconds, and moved on.

Ten minutes later I decided to wash my hands in the dormitory bathroom.

I was in the bathroom twenty minutes ago at the same sink I now was at.

I started to wash my hands when I noticed a bright penny by the faucet.

The penny had not been there twenty minutes ago. And, a penny would not be on the sink, it would be on the ground!!!

Nevertheless, I picked up this miraculous penny.

This is too weird to be a coincidence. I reflected on how my grandparents lifted my spirits by dropping down a penny.
